If you’re going to shell out for a beautiful dress, you might as well get the most beautifully designed one you can. And unless you’re an astoundingly talented dress designer, it’s probably worth taking some inspiration from some of the most beautiful classic long dresses known to womankind. In other words, if you’re going to steal, do it from Waitrose rather than Costcutters.

That is not Greta Garbo.
Totally agree with copy Waitrose not Costcutters! Speaking of taking inspiration from film stars, my friend got married in a BCBG Max Azria white evening dress – they dress a lot of stars for the Oscars. It was a beautiful wedding dress, cost only £300 but looked a million dollars. Harvey Nichols stock them, or you can buy online from the US site. I’ve just had a look at their site and they have some BEAUTIFUL white dresses in at the moment.
this is so bad my day was ruined

I have found a vintage 1940s original pattern that is 90% like the dress I would like for my special day..My mum is an excellent seamstress and once we have chosen fabrics she will toille this up for me and as I am a skilled pattern cutter we will work together to make the more flattering changes! Pattern only cost $18 and fabric I am expecting to pay £250 for.. BARGAIN!
